Teacher Week: All About Me!

Uncategorized

I just love teacher week! Be sure and join in the fun by linking up with us over at Blog Hoppin’!
Today’s topic is all about me 🙂 Here are my 10 random facts:
{1} I’ve taught 1st grade for 4 years and this year I’m transferring to 5th reading. I’m really excited to experience a new age group! You can read all about my 5th grade adventures on my new(ish) blog, Life in Fifth Grade
{2} I have recently become obsessed with Mindy Kaling. If you don’t know who she is (shame on you!), she played Kelly Kapoor on The Office and now has her own show, The Mindy Project, which she also writes and produces. She is so funny! I just love her 🙂
{3} TV shows are my guilty pleasure. My favorites are: Gossip Girl (is Blake Lively not the most gorgeous girl? I would kill for her hair), Glee (I love Rachel Berry), the aforementioned The Mindy Project (my new favorite show!), and The Office (Is Jim Halpert not the cutest thing ever?)
{4} I can quote the movie Titanic in its entirety. I was in 5th grade when the movie came out, way back in 1997 and I was obsessed.
{5} I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I’ve read the books countless times and love the movies.
{6} While creating things for my classroom, I like to listen to the soundtrack from Wicked. Such a great musical.
{7} I love watching beauty gurus on Youtube. My favorite is Missglamourazzi. She has wonderful makeup tricks and hair tutorials.
{8} I have a personal/fashion blog: Southern Belle Inspired. Fashion is a huge part of my life and I like to talk about that, along with all other things southern, over there.
{9} I am obsessed with Instagram. Follow me! msleslieann01
{10} My little Maltese, Reese (named after Reese Witherspoon) is so camera shy! I can hardly take her picture without her hiding her face. I have to sneak around with the camera and quickly snap a picture without making any noise. She’s funniest little dog. 🙂
Have you linked up yet?! Come join in the fun!!

I had to laugh when I read that about Titanic because it is one of my favorites as well! I did a whole unit on Titanic (the history) and it was so interesting for the kids to learn about that time period and what happened with the ship. It's good to teach what we are passionate about, right?? Too bad Leo couldn't show up for some lessons 🙂

I love Harry Potter as well…and Wicked is my favorite musical! I think you'll love 5th…they are a lot more independent than firsties and you can get into some really good discussions and depth with them.

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
