Coffee Table Mini Makeover

Home Decor· lifestyle· Uncategorized

I’m a huge fan of Jen from I Heart Organizing and every time I read her blog, I immediately want to line my drawers with pretty paper and organize them so they are picture perfect. I hate to admit it, but the majority of my cabinets and drawers aren’t the most organized and blog worthy. As much I want to change this, I simply don’t have time right now to do a complete house makeover. I did, however address the issue of my messy coffee table drawers this week and I am tickled pink about their mini makeover.
Part of my nightly skin care routine happens while watching TV in my living room after my bath or shower. (I don’t feel nearly as guilty binge watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt if I’m doing something productive!) I’ve started keeping my lotion and a few pair of socks (for moisturizing my feet at nightly) in my coffee table drawer so that they are easily accessible and I don’t have any excuse for not moisturizing my skin. The only problem was the drawers were already crammed full and messy.

Most of the “junk” was just that: JUNK. I don’t even know how a lot of it ended up in there. It was time to organize and declutter!
I started by taking everything out and having a clean slate to work with
The next thing was to spice up the bottoms of each drawer. That yucky brown wood isn’t appealing to me at all, so I found some paper gift wrap from Target and measured and cut. This step took some time because I apparently cannot measure correctly and had to keep recutting the paper 🙂
Of course Reese had to help by grabbing the scrap paper and tearing it into a million little pieces 🙂

Now that the insides were pretty, it was time to fill them back up with my “stuff”. This time around, I was more selective about what went in the drawers and what needed to be placed elsewhere or simply thrown away.
I decided to dedicate one drawer to my skin care/beauty routine. I have some spa socks that I put on after applying foot cream before bed. I have my lotions that I’m currently using. I keep a magazine and my food journal in this drawer, along with my vitamins. I decided to keep my vitamins in here so that I would remember to take them each morning. I don’t take both biotin and the Hair, Skin, and Nails since the HSN contains biotin, but I’m almost out of one.

The other drawer houses the remotes, phone book, and a bag of pens and highlighters for when I work from the couch. 🙂
Isn’t it much prettier now? I’m loving it!

And so is Reese 🙂

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
