January 2023 Book Releases: New Books I’m Adding To My TBR

Books

There are some really good books being released during the first month of 2023, y’all! Here are the January new releases that I’m excited to read.

January Romance New Releases

Loathe to Love You by Ali Hazelwood (1/3)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

It’s Ali Hazelwood, so I don’t need any other reason to add this to my TBR. I’m not the biggest fan of novellas and short stories, so I’m not putting this at the very top like I would one of her actual novels, but I’m excited nonetheless.

The Second You’re Single by Cara Tanamachi (1/31)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

A freelance writer declares herself single, starts an online campaign to be independent, and then meets a handsome friend from elementary school. This sounds so cute! It also involves Valentine’s Day if you’re a seasonal reader.

The Reunion by Kayla Olson (1/17)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

Two teen stars reconnect at their show’s reunion. I love a good celebrity romance, so this one is high on my TBR.

Do I Know You? by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka (1/24)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

I love this author duo. They wrote The Roughest Draft, which reminded me of Beach Read if Taylor Jenkins Reid had written it. I can’t wait to read their newest.

Exes & O’s by Amy Lea (1/10)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

Amy Lea’s debut novel, Set on You, got rave reviews last year and even though I still haven’t read it, I’m adding this one to my list!

Speechless by Lindsey Lanza (1/17)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

This self-published title has been getting a lot of buzz, so I’m curious. I love finding a new indie author to become obsessed with!

The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis (1/17)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

This is a reach because I don’t typically pick up books with covers like this (I know, I know. I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover) but a lot of other bookstagrammers that I trust have been loving this author, so I want to try her newest. It’s part of a series, but each can be read as a stand-alone.

Final Offer by Lauren Asher (1/31)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

I’m so excited for the final book in the Dreamland Billionaires series! I’ve read (and loved) the first book and I hope to get to the second one before this one comes out.

January Mystery/Thrillers & General Fiction New Releases

All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham (1/10)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

A Flicker in the Dark was one of my favorite thrillers last year, so I immediately added the author’s newest to my TBR. Do I have a clue what it’s about? Nope! But I’m excited for it!

Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica (1/10)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

Adding Mary Kubica’s newest thriller to my TBR is a no-brainer. I love Mary Kubica’s books.

Regrets Only by Kieran Scott (1/10)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

This one sounds like Big Little Lies + there’s an old high school flame that returns. This sounds amazing. I cannot wait.

The Social Climber by Amanda Pellegrino (1/3)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

The cover caught my eye. The description made me add it to my list. I’ll be reading this one while listening to Taylor Swift’s Mastermind.

The Sweet Spot by Amy Poepel

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

I read Amy Poepel’s Small Admissions years ago and loved it. Her newest book sounds so good. The setting sounds idyllic.

Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn (1/24)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

I’ve never read anything by Kate Clayborn, but I had a friend who read an early copy of this one and absolutely loved it. I’m so excited about this one! I’m a sucker when the story involves the main character returning to her hometown.

January Young Adult New Releases

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert (1/3)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

I love the cover (just look at that pink!) and the fact that the title contains part of a Taylor Swift lyric? Sold.

The Davenports by Krystal Marquis (1/31)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

This is being pitched as a young adult version of Bridgerton. I don’t need any more convincing.

Begin Again by Emma Lord (1/24)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

Emma Lord is one of my favorite young adult writers, and this one sounds like it could be my favorite. I have been anticipating this for the longest!

January Nonfiction New Releases

Spare by Prince Harry (1/10)

Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon

And now we come to this book. I have gone back and forth about wanting to read this one. I have so many thoughts on the whole Megan and Harry/ William and Kate debacle. I’m definitely curious about it!

Those are the books I’m excited about this month. Are any of these on your TBR?

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Thanks for my early review copy, @atrandombooks

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
