Hi friends! I am SO EXCITED to share the books that I read in the month of April because I read some absolutely
FABULOUS books that I just fell in love with! I’m chatting about these in the order that I read them, so grab
a cup of coffee and go ahead and open up your Goodreads pages on a separate tab because you’re going
to want to add a few of these to your summer reading list!

Transcend/Epoch
The first book I read this month was the sequel to Transcend by Jewel E. Ann. Y’all, this duology is one of the most unique
storylines I’ve ever read. It’s about a girl who becomes a nanny to a newborn baby whose mother died in childbirth.
When she meets the father of the baby, she immediately has all these memories of him, even though she has never
met him before. Seriously y’all, I FLEW through this series! I HIGHLY recommend this one. Just be sure you don’t
start reading it when you have a lot going on in life because you won’t be able to concentrate on anything else!

Starry Eyes
The second book I read this month was Jenn Bennett’s newest release, Starry Eyes. I fell in love with Jenn
Bennett’s books last year when Alex Approximately came out. That book renewed my love for Young Adult
books, so I was very excited about Starry Eyes. I really liked this one. I didn’t like it as much as Alex Approximately,
but I still really enjoyed it. It’s about a girl who has had a falling out with her best friend when they decided to try and
see if they could be more than friends. The two characters end up going on a camping trip together and get lost
in the woods. I loved the storyline in this one!

All the Beautiful Lies
I have been anxiously awaiting Peter Swanson’s newest thriller, All the Beautiful Lies, since I found out about
this new title last year. Y’all know Peter Swanson is one of my favorite thriller writers (His book, The Kind Worth
Killing, is my favorite thriller.) All the Beautiful Lies was absolutely WONDERFUL! Y’all, this is one of my new
favorite thrillers. It was fast paced and shocking and the last page will leave you speechless! I highly recommend
this one if you love thrillers.

Always
After reading Peter Swanson’s newest thriller, I needed a change in genres, so I decided to try out this general
fiction book by Sarah Jio. It’s about a girl who is engaged to the perfect guy and as they are leaving a restaurant
one night, she runs into a homeless person on the sidewalk and realizes it is her ex boyfriend (aka the love of her
life.) I really wanted to like this one, but oh my goodness I really didn’t like it. I only gave it 2 stars because I felt
like it was so cheesy and far fetched. I didn’t like any of the characters. I was so glad to finish this one.

The Neighbors
As of right now, The Neighbors by Hannah Mary McKinnon is my favorite book of 2018. I cannot recommend
this one enough. Y’all I LIVED this book! I felt like I was right there with the characters and found myself screaming/
sympathizing with them. It. is. so. good.

This one is about a girl who is involved in a car wreck that kills her beloved brother. Because she feels so much guilt
, she breaks up with her boyfriend and moves away and actually marries the guy who rescues her from the
car crash. Years later, the girl and guy have married and the house next door comes up for sale. When the
new owners move in,she realizes it is her old boyfriend that she still loves and has never gotten over. I may have
finished this one weeks ago, but I still vividly remember it! You must try this one!!!

Okay, this one is different than my normal reads, but I LOVED The Wild Robot and so do my kids in class. I had to read The Wild Robot Escapes for work, but it was a happy assignment because I LOVED it! If you teach 5th-8th grade or if you have middle grade age children, you have to check out Peter Brown’s Robot series. You will fall in love with Roz!

An American Marriage
Our April pick for our #lalalifebookclub was An American Marriage and oh boy. I’m glad I read this one,
but I’m also glad it’s over. I filmed an Insta story and included it on my highlights if you want to know
my detailed thoughts on this one, but y’all I realllllly didn’t like one character and it just ruined the entire
book for me. I did like certain aspects of this book, but overall, I was glad to move onto something else.

Rating: 3 STARS (the writing was incredible, so I added an extra star. If we were going off of enjoyment
alone, I would lean more to 2 stars)

Winner Take All
I had never heard of this book, but the cover caught my eye in the bookstore, so I decided to check it out.
I love a good hate to love storyline and this one delievered! Now, I did only give it 3 stars because it did
drag a bit in the middle and I felt like one theme, although it was important, was shoved in the reader’s
face a bit too much, but overall I really enjoyed it!

Love and Other Words
Okay, I always get really excited about a new Christina Lauren book because it’s just so exciting to
find a new favorite romance book. I haven’t had much luck with Christina Lauren books in the past. I really
didn’t like Dating You/Hating You and Roomies was just okay, but y’all, Love and Other Words is one of my
new favorite romance books of ALL TIME. In fact, I would say this one is probably my second favorite book
of the year. Friends, this is the sweetest story about a girl and boy who fell in love when they were 11 years
old. I absolutely loved this one. It makes up for the bad thought/feels I had with the previous two books I read
from CL. 🙂
