Back Porch Makeover Part 1

Home Decor· lifestyle· Uncategorized

Hey y’all! My back porch is coming together and I couldn’t be happier. Summer is almost here and I can’t wait to spend my days outside in this fun space. I finished one section of the area and that’s what today’s post is about!
Here’s an overview of the space. I have some close up shots posted below of different things so I’ll talk about things in more detail there.

This is the little DIY project I mentioned on Instagram last week. As you can see in the before pic, this bistro set was black and I wanted to spice it up. A can of spray paint to the rescue! I’ve had this bistro set for about 5 years so it needed a refresher. Now it’s like I have a new piece. I love it!
FYI: This was the easiest thing I’ve ever painted!

I just love these Lilly Pulitzer pillows. I used them last summer on my front porch but I’m doing something different this year so I moved them to the back. When I redid this bistro set, the pillows went with it perfectly!

The water can was a Target Dollar Spot find. I love using watering cans at flower pots.

Can y’all tell pillows are kind of my thing?? I love decorating a space with fun pillows. Plus, they are easy to change out and make an area feel new and different.

I got the sun and surf pillows at Ross. I bought them to display backwards since the back is blank, but then when I got them home I realized I kind of like the words. Plus, I can always add something else on the back with my Silhouette Cameo. Another DIY project!
The pink fern pillow is Lilly Pulitzer and I bought it at Swoozies, along with the other Lilly pillows that are on the bistro set.

The blue and green tea cup pillow is familiar, right? I posted about it in my TJ Maxx Tuesday post a few weeks ago. I found this Kate Spade pillow there and loved it, but decided to be good and pass it up. I told myself if they still had it when I came back that I would buy it and they did! I am so thrilled to have it on my back porch. I didn’t even know Kate Spade made pillows!

I’m not a huge birdhouse fan but there’s just something about this one that I LOVE! My mom and I found it at a little odds and ends store that is local and I just had to have it.

DIY Flower Pots post here!

When I went up to grab my Lilly pillows from last year out of storage, I found this burlap lemon that I had completely forgotten about! I found it at Hobby Lobby at the beginning of last summer. I love it! Next to pineapples, lemons are my favorite fruit. Not to eat, just to decorate with! LOL!

Have y’all seen all the doormats at Target?? I’m obsessed! I wish I had more doors in my house so I could buy them all. Love, love, love!

And of course, I’ve gotta have some reading material. I’m currently working on .a book review for the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy so I’ve been going back through the first and making notes. Be sure and check back Thursday for that post!

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
