Classroom Decorating: Day 6

Classroom· Uncategorized

Happy weekend, y’all! This week has been crazy busy! My grandmother had surgery on Monday and finally came home from the hospital yesterday, so posting has been difficult this week and I ended up skipping yesterday, but it’s all good! 🙂 I worked in my classroom until around 9:30 last night and it’s finnnalllly starting to come together. There’s still a million and one things to do, but I’m starting to see some of the projects complete!
Here’s day 6!
I finally got all those books placed on the shelf. It’s on my list to organize them, but that hasn’t happened yet. I’m just proud to have them on shelves at this point! I’m not leaving those on the top…I just have to rearrange!

I love the idea of using book covers to decorate boards. I’m always trying to come up with ways to make my kids love to read and get excited about books! Plus, book covers are so pretty, so it’s a win win!

I’m starting to see the end of the small group table! Yay!

I walked into my classroom one day and found 5 boxes piled high atop a group of desks. I got those unpacked last night and now they are messing up my VIP area! I feel like I’m just moving junk around until it’s all placed somewhere. Do y’all ever feel like that? #teacherproblems

I haven’t added the title of this board, but it will display all our skills and strategies posters for the first grading period, which I still have to make! At least the first two are up!

Yep, this area still looks bad, but look at that clean board! All ready for boarder now! 🙂

My classroom instantly felt cozier when I got the books out. These were some of last year’s favorites. I can’t read to share these with my new kids! 🙂

Evidence board is halfway complete! Evidence term posters are a freebie here!

I was so excited to get this board done, but when I went to put up the title, I realized I had made it way too small. So I’m going to have to recreate one that is bigger. It happens sometimes! You can read about how I make my titles here. 🙂
Still so much to do, but it’s starting to come together! 🙂

Wal Mart a few years ago! They have great dorm type furniture around this time of year. I usually find neat seating for the classroom there 🙂

Thank you! My 1st grade classroom was much smaller than this one, so I feel your pain! It makes decorating so much easier. All those cabinets are so nice to store supplies! 🙂

Your room looks all sorts of stunning! I love the simplicity of your vocabulary board. I always find the more I keep it simple the more likely I am to use it. Can't wait to see the rest!

Love how your room is coming out–so pretty! Will you still have an Instagram board? If so did you make the title for Instagram or find it someplace? I really like your VIP wall (board) too!

Thank you! I'm *planning* on making the Instagram door with the VIP door is now. The VIP section moved up to the front of the room, so the board will be moved and that door needs something! I'll try and share the title if I make it! 🙂

I have that same lamp (black and white) with a matching chair pad. AND Lowe's has a rug that matches!

Beautiful room! I bet your students love it. Are you making changes this year? I was wondering where you found your white book cases. all of my bookcases are mix and match sizes and colors and I'd like to get several white ones to replace them. I've found them at Ikea and Amazon and was curious about yours.
Thanks for sharing your classroom with us!

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
