Classroom decorating has officially started! There isn’t much to look at at this point, but you have to start somewhere, right? Plus it’s fun to see how far the room has come when it’s finally finished!
The above picture is how it looked when I arrived yesterday. It normally looks a lot messier, but since I went with tables this year, it wasn’t so bad. A fourth grade teacher bought these tables last year and I fell in love with the idea so I decided to try it out this year! I still have to get the chairs and I can’t wait to see it when it’s all finished. It gave me SO MUCH MORE room without having desks!
Future reading area. The back of one of those bookshelves fell apart during the room take down, but I don’t think it’ll be a big deal when I get books on it. I’m telling myself I don’t need new bookshelves, but I REALLY want them!
Future small group meeting area. I’ve never had a kidney shaped table before, but a friend let me have hers. I can’t wait to meet with students at this shape! 🙂
A VIP perk: the trampoline chairs! Read more about the VIP area here.
That red table WILL NOT be left red! Red is my least favorite color because I love pink and it doesn’t go with red, so nothing in my room is red. I cover this table with contact paper.
I’m changing the contact paper this summer and I wanted to show y’all how easily it removes. I was shocked and how easy it came off and how it didn’t leave any stickiness behind. This paper was left on for about a year and a half. Seriously if you need to cover any surface in your classroom, contact paper is the way to go!
Since I had the room painted this summer AND I removed the tables, I had almost nowhere to put things while they waxed the floors. My desk was and is still piled high and I’m dreading tackling it!
Future evidence board
I can’t wait to break out the books tomorrow! It instantly makes the room feel cozier 🙂
So, not much to look at, but it’s a start! 🙂
Happy Thursday, ya’ll!

I love the new paint color! The blue is much gentler on the eyes than the yellow!

So far so good! How many students will you have sitting at your tables? I'd love to get rid of desks. As of now, I have 24 5th graders (I can have up to 25). Thanks..Cory

Are those tables "textured" on top? How do you handle that?

I love your colors! What did you use to cover the boards around your SMARTboard? Can't wait to continue following your progress….very inspirational!

A lightweight solution for your bookshelves is to run vinyl type wallpaper across the back and staple gun or tack nail it on. You can find any solid or print to fit your decor! Another option is fabric however the depth might have to be cut to fit. Otherwise the classroom is starting to come together and promises to be very colorful and charming!!! Continued success and thanks for sharing!
