December 2021 Reading Wrap Up

Books

Today, I’m sharing the 16 books I read in December. Almost all were 4 and 5 star reads, so it’s a good wrap up!

I’ve made a Tik Tok and a Reel if you want to hear my thoughts. I know some of y’all prefer a written post so you can pull it up at the bookstore/library, so I’m trying to give different options 🙂

Shop these books on my Amazon Storefront here. Thank you so much for your support! 🙂

The Ravenhood Series by Kate Stewart

The last book I read in November was Flock, so I started off December reading Exodus and The Finish Line. If I could give these more stars, I would. I don’t want to say a whole lot about these because it’s best to go in blind, but oh my goodness this is one of the most memorable series I’ve ever read. Book one (Flock) wasn’t my favorite, but Exodus and The Finish Line clearly make up for it!

Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney

I took a break from all the romances I was reading and picked up a thriller. I read Alice Feeney’s newest, Rock, Paper, Scissors. I loved this one! The twist was definitely one I didn’t see coming! Highly recommend!

The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun

I read The Charm Offensive and loved it! I was expecting this one to be a light hearted rom com, but it actually tackled some serious issues like mental health and sexuality. I thought it was done really well. I loved the swoony moments!

The Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy

Then I discovered Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series, which contributed to the high number of books I read. I read all 5 books in the Off Campus and then the first book in the spin off, Briar U, series. I gave all the books 5 stars except for The Deal, which I gave 5 stars, and The Chase (book 1 in the spin off series) which I gave 3 stars.

Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison

As for Christmas books, I read two *amazing* holiday reads that were both 5 stars. I read LoveLight Farms because I had been seeing it everywhere and it lived up to the hype for me! I loved this one so much! 5 stars

The Plight Before Christmas by Kate Stewart

I thought I was over holiday reads after reading LoveLight Farms, but then Kate Stewart came out with a Christmas book. Best Christmas book I’ve ever read, hands down. 5 million stars. LOVED THIS ONE! I even recommend reading it outside of the holidays. It’s too good to wait until next year.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

I reread The Hating Game last month because it had been so long since I originally read it and the movie came out in December. I always worry with rereading old favorites because sometimes they don’t live up to my own hype, but this one 100% did. I loved this one just as much as the first time I read it! Now the movie? Eh. It was better than I expected, but not as good as I hoped. I loved Lucy Hale as Lucy, but the actor that played Josh wasn’t my favorite.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

(Thanks for my early copy, Berkley Publishing!)

Preorder on Amazon

I also read an ARC of Emily Henry’s upcoming book, Book Lovers. This book was absolutely amazing. I worry when I read an EH novel because I love her books SO MUCH and I don’t know if a new one will live up to her previous books, but this one is right on par with her other works. Y’all are going to swoon. I loved this one! 🙂

Front Desk by Kelly Yang

For work, I read this middle grade novel and LOVED it. Front Desk should be required reading in school. I would recommend it for grades 4 and up. There are so many great opportunities for discussions with this one. Great representation! If you want a guided read aloud to use with this one, I just added one to my TpT store.

The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn

Add to Amazon

Meghan Quinn has been an author I’ve always wanted to read, but I never remember to pick up one of her books. The Highland Fling caught my eye because I love Outlander. This one did not disappoint. I think I’ve found a new favorite author! I’d love to hear if you’ve ever read a MQ book. I ordered Not So Meet Cute, so that will be my next read!

So that’s what I read during the month of December! I’d love to hear if you’ve read any of these. What did you read last month?

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
