Fall 2022 Reading Guide

Books

It’s time to break out all the cozy blankets, brew a cup of coffee, and settle down with one of these cozy fall books! I’m sharing 24 of my favorite books that are perfect for this time of year. You can purchase these on my Amazon list here or add them to your Goodreads TBR by clicking the links below. Happy fall reading! 🙂

Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison The perfect, atmospheric prep school mystery/thriller

For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing A teacher who is loved by all may not really be all that great. You’ll never look at kcups for coffee the same!

The Broken Girls by Simone St. James A paranormal mystery/thriller that is perfect for fall!

In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead My favorite book from 2021. A group of six friends meet at college and then one ends up dead. They all reunite years later for their college reunion and discover what really happened.

They Never Learn by Lauren Fargo A teacher takes it upon herself to kill awful men on their college campus.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling A light hearted rom com that involves witches. Will it end up being your new favorite romance? Probably not, but it’s a fun book that is festive and perfect to read while you’re surrounded by your halloween decor!

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager One of the scariest books I’ve ever read! Perfect for Halloween!

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware My favorite Ruth Ware!

November 9 by Colleen Hoover I have issues with this one, but if you want an unputdownable book, you know CoHo will deliver on that front.

The Widow of Rose House by Debbie Biller A romance that involves home renovation and ghosts.

The It Girl by Ruth Ware Slow burn, but it’s really good if you can stick with it. The setting reminded me of the coziness of Hogwarts lol!

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston This one technically takes place in the Spring, but it has the biggest fall feeling to it. It’s a quirky, sweet, feel good story about a girl who has to return to her hometown when her father, the owner of the local funeral home, passes away. I loved this one so much!

The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams A sweet friends to lovers story that involves a famous NFL player

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins A scary YA mystery/thriller that is the *perfect* Halloween/October book. Just don’t compare it to the Netflix adaptation.

The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell A cult mystery/thriller

She was the Quiet One by Michelle Campbell Two sisters enroll at a boarding school. One fits in immediately while the other struggles. By the end of the year, one is dead. The book goes back and forth over the course of the year to share what happened and who died.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins The cutest YA romance series that takes place at a boarding school in France.

When We Were Worthy by Mary Beth Mayhew Whalen A group of cheerleaders are killed in a car wrecked and the book details the aftermath.

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn It’s been a long time since I’ve read this, but I remember being terrified-in the best way.

Drowning with Others by Linda Keir A girl begins college at the same school her parents went to, but things get off to a rocky start when they find the body of an old professor that went missing while her parents were in school.

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffengegger This has such a gothic feel to it. It’s also paranormal.

A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J Maas Not into high fantasy? I didn’t think so either, but this book sucked me in and made me obsessed with a genre I never thought I would love. There’s something about high fantasy that feels like cozy fall reading.

The Woods Are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins Two friends are about to go off to different colleges but they decide to go on an overnight camping trip before they leave. It takes place over the summer, but the scariness makes it a great fall read.

Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld My favorite book of all time. It details Lee Fiora’s 4 years of high school at a boarding school.

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
