Friday Favs

lifestyle· Uncategorized

Happy Friday, y’all! I’ve had a fabulous, productive week! Here’s what I’ve been up to/loving this week.
I finally got a new desk chair and I am loving it! I had been using a cushioned dinning room chair from Pier One that was so pretty, but it definitely wasn’t meant to be used as a desk chair. I couldn’t figure out why my back kept hurting and then I realized it was the chair! I work a ton in my home office, during the summer especially, so I went on the hunt for a comfy chair. I don’t love the look of an office chair, but I decided to sacrifice looks for comfort! 🙂 It was on clearance too, so I took it as a sign that it was meant to be.

I snapped this pic one morning this week because I realized I have spent the majority of the last part of this week in my PJs! I have been working nonstop (anyone get the Hamilton reference!?) this week in my office on all things teaching so comfy clothes are a must! I LOVE these PJ shorts from Old Navy!

I snapped this pic to share this adorable flamingo sweatshirt with y’all. I moved my desk to my window in the office, but it’s right next to an air vent so I keep warm clothes to bundle up with and I’ve been loving this sweatshirt! And of course, coffee is always a Friday fav!

Is this not the prettiest eyeshadowever?? Granted, there aren’t a lot of opportunities to wear glitter eye shadow in my life, but I’m going to definitely work it in somehow! 😉

Sunday morning breakfast with a side of LaLa Land. I just can’t get enough of this movie. Love, love, love!

Look at these tassel earrings! I ordered the exact same pair from Baublebar in purple in late spring and then I found these at TJ Maxx and they look exactly the same!

Target. All time fav! I’ve currently stalking the Dollar Spot for the back to school/teacher stuff to come out! They still didn’t have them out on my last trip, but don’t worry! I found some things I definitely didn’t know I needed!

This week has been the best in terms of reading! I read One of Us Is Lying and absolutely LOVED it! It just might be my favorite book of 2017 so far. If you want a post of all my favs from the year so far, let me know!

Then I read When It’s Real and was so surprised at how much I loved it! I mean, I HATED Erin Watt’s last book but I love, love love this one! Another favorite of 2017 maybe?

I’ve been using this lower lash mascara for the longest time and I just love it. It makes applying makeup to your bottom lashes so much easier!

Another favorite beauty product that I’ve recently discovered. This Micellar Cleansing Water does the best job at taking off your makeup! I had been using the Garnier, but this L’Oreal one is so much better!

I went to Barnes and Noble last weekend and came away with tons of great new books for my classroom, including this one about 10 amazing women written by the amazing Chelsea Clinton. A definite fav!

And finally, this week I’ve discovered the soundtrack to the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. It’s been my go to soundtrack for working away in my office. Obsessed!
So that’s been some of my favs from the week. Happy weekend, y’all!

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
