Hi friends! I’m currently on Spring Break (can you hear me shouting?!) and I’m trying to use this time to catch up on some work that has currently been piling up. The weather here in Alabama is just awful, (cold, windy, rainy) so I’m trying to look on the bright side and think of this as an opportunity to get some stuff done. If it were bright and sunny, all I would be doing would be laying out and enjoying the Spring weather, so this coldness is definitely a bummer.
Anyways, I never did post about the books I read during January and February. I was able to read several in January and then I fell into a major book slump in February and only managed to read ONE book! Thankfully March has been much better on the reading front!
Let’s chat about what I read during the first two months of 2018.
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
When St. Martin’s Press asked if they could send me a copy of The Wife Between Us, I couldn’t reply with a yes quickly enough! I had been hearing so much hype about this book and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. A lot of people compared it to The Last Mrs. Parrish, which y’all know I LOVED!
Now, I really liked this one, but I didn’t LOVE it. I gave it 4 stars because I felt it grew a little boring between the second and third part (the book is divided into 3 parts). I also had an issue with the main character, but I don’t want to spoil the book for y’all. I did LOVE the fact that one the of the main characters was a teacher, so we got to read a few parts about her job and parent/teacher conferences. I found those parts really interesting and funny. Overall, I really liked this one and would totally recommend it!

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell
Y’all know how much I love Lisa Jewell, so when I hear she had a new book coming out this Spring, I went to check it out. It sounded so good to be that I went ahead and ordered the UK edition on Amazon since it was already out. Y’all. This book. It might be my favorite of 2018 so far. I LOVE LOVE LOVED it! I could not put it down and I had no idea where it was going. I highly HIGHLY recommend this one if you love a good mystery/thriller!
It’s about a woman whose daughter goes missing when she’s 15 years and no one ever hears from her or finds her body. Years later, the mother is divorced and starts to date a new guy. When she meets his daughter, she realizes his daughter looks exactly like HER daughter. It’s SOOOOO good!

The Beau & The Belle by R.S. Grey
Romance books are my go to genre, but I haven’t had a lot of luck here lately with these types of books. I would love recommendation! I did read R.S. Grey’s newest release in January and I really enjoyed it! It’s not my favorite RS Grey book, but I still flew through it and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good love story.
It’s about a girl who develops a crush on a college boy that rents a room from her parents. When a hurricane forces everyone to evacuate the town, she loses touch with him and then reconnects again 10 years later when she moves back home and discovers he is a successful lawyer. It’s really good and the perfect light read!

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
I finally decided to sign up for Book of the Month in January and this was the book I picked. I had been hearing a lot of buzz surrounding this book, but it wouldn’t have been one I would have went out and bought on my own. I was glad to see it on BOTM. Sadly, I didn’t love this one. I thought it was WAY too long and I just was never really invested in the storyline. I have since heard mixed reviews, so maybe you’ll have better luck than I did! I will say I didn’t guess the ending! Even thought I didn’t love my first Book of the Month, I’m really glad I signed up for it. It’s fun to see the choices when they come out each month. If you use my code, you’ll get your first book free!

Everywhere and Every Way by Jennifer Probst
Like I mentioned earlier, I LOVE a good romance and I am always on the hunt for a new romance series. You know, the kind that revolves around the same characters, but each story is centered around a different person. I was hoping I would love Jennifer Probst’s Billonaire Builders series because it’s set up this way (the series contains three books and each one is centered around a different brother.) Sadly I didn’t really love this one. I’m picky about my romance stories. I like more humor as opposed to cheesy-ness and this one fell more on the cheesy side. I already purchased the other two in the series because I was just positive I would love them, but now I’m not so sure…

This Love Story Will Self-Destruct by Leslie Cohen
Not only is the cover of this one simply goregous, but I LOVED this story! Gallery books sent me a review copy and I am so thankful because I just ate this one up! This was a sleeper hit for me.When I started reading this one, I thought I was going to hate it. The beginning is the reason for the 4 star rating (instead of 5). I understand why the events in the beginning had to take place, but for me, the book didn’t “get good” until the middle. In fact, I think a lot of people won’t like this one because of the beginning and I bet many people will DNF it (I almost did!) The main character is hard to like, but if you stick with this one, you will love it! I’m so glad this is one that I didn’t abandon.

The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond
And finally we have the ONE book I read in February. February was filled with a ton of blog/TpT work for me, so it makes sense that I couldn’t get into a book because my mind was constantly wandering. I did manage to read and finish the #lalalifebookclub February book, which was an accomplishment because this book had close to 400 pages! I sadly didn’t like it very much because it was way to far fetched and unbelievable. You can see everyone’s thoughts about this one here, here, and here since it was a book club pick.
I’ve also filmed a video discussing the books I read during January and February if you want to check it out!
I’d love to hear about what you’ve been reading! Have you read any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Happy Monday!
