Okay, so y’all know from August’s Book Review post, that I’m playing catch up and even though it’s already September, I’m still talking about what I read in July, but I read two of my top five favs of 2018 two months ago, I wanted to be sure and share everything with y’all!
All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin
My second favorite book of the year. Emily Giffin is one of those authors that I always read, but I’ve been sadly disappointed with her last two books (The One and Only and First Comes Love.) I was really nervous about this one, and then when I read it, I was shocked at how much I fell in love with it!
It follows several different characters and their perspective and role in a certain event. I don’t want to give away anything else because I think it’s better to go into this one not knowing a lot of what it’s about. It deals with such a current and relevant topic and is done so brilliantly. I love it.
Leave No Trace by Mindy Mejia
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Mindy Mejia’s newest (it’s now currently available!) book and I really enjoyed it. It deals with the wildness and a son and father who go missing on a camping trip and years later the son returns without the father. I LOVED Mindy Mehjia’s first novel Everything You Want Me to Be, so I was super excited about this one, but I didn’t love it near as much.
Thanks, Simon and Schuster for sending a copy my way!
Hard Sell by Lauren Layne
I read another ARC back in July and this one was Lauren Layne’s newest book in her Wolves of Wall Street series. Y’all know by now that LL is my go to romance author and this book didn’t disappoint! I think I enjoyed it more than book #1 in this series. There’s nothing like a good romance read, is there??
All the Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth
And then I read my third favorite of the year. Normally when I read a book, it’s one that I’ve been hearing about or seeing everywhere, but that isn’t the case with this book. I first discovered this one through Books and LaLa’s Youtube channel. Y’all. This book. I was shocked at how much I LOVED All the Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth. It’s a boarding school story about a girl who is trying to become a member of this secret society at school. It’s a mix of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars and I loved every single second of it.
All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover
Colleen Hoover came out with a new book in July and there’s no way I wasn’t going to read it. Sadly I didn’t love it, but I do think lots of people will! Is it just me or have her books gotten a lot more serious lately? I mean, they’ve always had a serious undertone to them, but the last two I read have just been too much for me. I was in the mood for a light, peppy read after this one.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
And the last book I read in July was an ARC of Christina Lauren’s newest book, Josh and Hazel’s Guide. I’ve not been the biggest CL fan until I read Love and Other Words back in the Spring and loved it. This one sounded like it would remind me of The Hating Game (my all time favorite romance story.) I loved Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating. If you’re looking for a funny, light hearted love story, definitely try this one! You will love!
