Y’all, I had a really good reading month in November. I read 9 books and loved almost all of them!
Here’s what I read and loved/didn’t love.
Wait for You by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Let’s start off with my least favorite of the month. Wait for You was written 10 years ago and recently rereleased for the anniversary. You could definitely tell this was written a while ago. Some of the language and plotlines were dated. New adult is very hit or miss for me, but this was a complete miss. I found the characters to be so immature, which I get that they’re young so it makes sense, but I just didn’t enjoy this book in the slightest.

They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman

I was seriously not expecting They Wish They Were Us to be as good as it was. I’ve had an ARC of this book for over two years, but I was never in the mood to read it for whatever reason. I am SO glad I decided to pick it up. It was phenomenal! It was similar to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which I also read this month, but I loved this one the most!

Merry Ex-Mas by Courtney Walsh

Let the holiday reading begin! I picked up Courtney Walsh’s newest book, Merry Ex-Mas last month and loved it so much! If you like a small town, second chance story, you’ll love this one!

The Personal Assistant by Kimberly Belle

Kimberly Belle is one of my favorite authors when it comes to mystery/thrillers, and her newest did not disappoint! I loved The Personal Assistant. It went in a direction I was not expecting, but I loved it! I do wish something had turned out differently in the end, but it was still an amazing thriller!

The Co-Op by Tarah Dewitt

I read Tarah Dewitt’s more famous book, Funny Feelings, in September because I was seeing everyone rave about it. I didn’t love it. BUT I did love the author’s writing, so I decided to give her another chance and pick up her newest book, The Co-Op. I am SO glad I did!
I loved this story! If you like teenager love turned enemies + forced proximity + home reno, you’ll love this one!

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

Speaking of reading a book because I’ve seen it everywhere, that’s exactly what happened with The Housemaid. This is not a book I would have picked up had I not seen everyone raving about it. I truly didn’t see one bad review when I finally caved and ordered it.
I really enjoyed this one! Yes, it was over the top, but highly entertaining! I definitely want to check out Freida McFadden’s other books now.

Faking Christmas by Cindy Steel

Annnnd another book I’ve been seeing everyone read! Faking Christmas was the perfect lighthearted, funny holiday read. It’s about two teachers, which I always love reading about. It involves faking dating + a cozy Vermont Inn. I loved it! I highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a Christmas read!

Beartown by Fredrik Backman

I finally read Beartown last month. I have been wanting to read this for the longest time. I actually checked it out at my library (it’s one of the few books my library actually has!) years ago when it first came out, but it was in large print and I struggled to read it because the book was so massive. I mean, it’s already a lengthy book, but you can imagine how heavy it was when it was in large print!
I’m glad I got a copy of my own because I ended up loving it! I’ve already ordered the second in the series. I can’t wait to return to these characters! Now, it did take me about 120 pages to get into the story, and the writing style was a little different from what I’m used to, but I loved it. I’m so glad I stuck with it.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
Add to Goodreads/Purchase on Amazon
I finished the month reading A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which has been a book I’ve been wanting to read for the last several years. I enjoyed this one, but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I was going to. I would have liked more plot/story, but it was more focused on the factual details of the unsolved murder. It was very much a book for fans of true crime. I like true crime, but I could have done with more story about what led to the murders instead of timestamps and locations of parked cars and houses, you know? And then there’s one thing that happened that I really hated. I docked an entire star for that.
Despite my 3 star rating, I am going to continue in the series because I’m interested in what happens next.
Rating: 3 star
Have you read any of these books? I’d love to hear!
