Picking out my Kitchen Appliances

House Construction· lifestyle· Uncategorized

Y’all, I had no idea how hard it would be to decide on what kind of kitchen appliances I wanted. Who knew there were so many things to consider! Color, brand, style, etc. When I bought my first house, the appliances came with it, so I didn’t have a say in the matter. Because of this, the one thing I knew for sure was that I didn’t want a side by side refrigerator. My current one is so hard to organize and nothing fits in it. Other than that, I really had no clue what I wanted. It was definitely a challenge, but I can happily say I order the refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer, and dryer yesterday! I still haven’t made a decision on the microwave…more about that later.
When I met with the contractor to go over all the details of the house (before construction even began) he gave me the option of including the appliances in the contract or purchasing them myself. He suggested that I purchase the appliances myself so I could use the sales on Black Friday, which was a great idea!
On my first of many trips to many different Lowes stores, I fell in love with this beauty:
Look at my happy face. That’s because I thought this gorgeous LG refrigerator was $2100 when in reality it was $3200. The salesperson gave me the wrong price and didn’t catch the mistake until I had picked out a stove and dishwasher to go along with it. I was so so disappointed. He offered to give me a 10% discount, but I did not want to pay that much for a refrigerator. I called it quits that day and decided to try another Lowes the next day.
On my second attempt at my second Lowes store, I found another LG refrigerator that was almost as pretty as my first love, but at a much better price!
But something was still holding me back. This one didn’t have the double drawers on the bottom, which I really wanted, but it did have the door in door, which is a feature that I love. BUT, it had the view where you could see inside, which I was just sorta iffy about. If you constantly kept it clean and organized, it would be really pretty, but let’s face it…who really does that! Soo, I was still confused. I also found this one that I really liked:
This Whirlpool refrigerator had the double drawers that I wanted and a neat ice maker. It didn’t have a whole lot of neat gadgets, but it was pretty and at a great price. I really liked it, but I wasn’t sure that I loved it. I was still hung up on my first love. My expensive first love. I left the store with no appliances ordered and even more decisions to make. I needed an ice cream to cheer me up!
And that’s when I turned to Instagram. I asked y’all your thoughts on the refrigerator and almost everyone said Whirlpool was the better brand. I had already ruled out Samsung because I’ve heard awful things about their products. I’ve also had a bad experience with their company when my vlogging camera broke after only one month of using it. I knew I didn’t want to go with Samsung even though their appliances were some of the prettiest. I was hung up on LG though and I didn’t realize until the salesperson at Lowes and y’all on Instagram told me that LG was in the same boat as Samsung. After doing a bit of research, I realized that going with a brand that I’ve had a personal positive experience with would probably be smart.

So, in the end, I chose Whirlpool. And I’m really happy with my decision. I feel like a responsible adult by not getting suckered into the dreamy $3000 refrigerator and I love how much I ended up saving due to the Black Friday deals. Here’s what the refrigerator, stove, dishwasher washer, and dryer look like. I decided to go with all stainless steel, so they are having to order some of the items.

Whirlpool Stove
This is the gas range, but mine will be electric.

Whirlpool Dishwasher

Whirlpool 24.5 cu ft 4 door French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker
Whirlpool Washer and Dryer
This is the updated version of the washer and dryer that I have at my current house. I’ve had both since I moved into the house four years ago and I love them. I just decided to go with them again for this house because I’ve had such good luck with them.

I also love the fact that Lowes will store my appliances until the house is ready for them! That was a huge relief because I was dreading having to figure out where to store a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer, and dryer for the next several months!

So that was my appliance shopping adventure! Whew! I’m glad that is over and done with. Now if it was just time to move them in and get everything installed. If only! 🙂

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
