Summarizing is one of those skills that can seem SO daunting and overwhelming to teach. Using a strategy makes summarizing much more manageable. The SWBST method is my favorite way to summarize fiction text! It provides an easy-to-follow guide for students to use in order to write a summary.

Even though you can use pretty much any fiction text to teach how to summarize, I’ve compiled a list of books that work really well with the SWBST method.
