Hi friends! I wanted to share the activity I did the first week of school to introduce QR Codes. I mentioned it awhile back and said I would post it if anyone wanted a copy. You can grab your free copy here in my TpT store. The codes scan to open a comprehension question about the story The Potato Chip Champ by Maria Dismondy, which you can find here on YouTube. I LOVE using this story because it aligns perfectly to the standard RL.5.3 Compare and contrast two or more characters,
settings, or events in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., how characters interact). This was easy enough for my kids to understand and still practice scanning for the first time. 🙂

Is there a free QR code reader you would recommend?
Thanks!

I can't wait to try your freebie! I have used QR codes with iPads in the past but we are using Chromebooks in our classroom this year and I'm still learning how to use them. Could you share which app or extension you are using to scan the QR codes? (If you shared this in an earlier post, sorry, I didn't see it!) Thank you!

Hi Leslie,
I just found your blog and LOVE it!
I've used QR Codes with iPads, but this year I only have access to laptops and am having trouble getting them to read the codes. What reader do you suggest? Maybe laminating the cards will solve the problem? Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thanks!
Laurie

I do not have ipads in my classroom. Is there some other way to scan these? Thanks! Dawn
