Spring To Do List: 5 Outside Things I Want to Accomplish this Season

Home Decor· lifestyle

#1: Storage Building

My little yellow storage building was delivered and set up a couple of weeks ago, and I have big plans for this area. It’s on the far outer corner of my land, and it’s nestled under a gigantic pecan tree. I started clearing out from under the tree two summers ago, but I never finished. I would love to tackle this project this spring. I plan to move my picnic table down to the area and put some Adirondack chairs and flowers to make a pretty little sitting area. Around the building also needs some shrubs and steps. Lots to do with this project, but I am so looking forward to it!

#2 Driveway Trees

I have been working on my driveway since two summers ago. Currently it has nothing along the side, but I am trying to plant some trees. A few months before my dad passed away, he dug up and brought some trees from the woods behind his house (where I lived for 26 years before I bought my first house!) and we planted them. Last spring I was so happy when they had started to bud and put on leaves. Sadly all 7 of them died and now I have nothing! I plan to tackle this section this season because it really needs something. When the trees were planted there (before they died) it looked so much better. This shouldn’t be a huge undertaking, but I think it will make a big difference in my front yard.

#3 Fence with the Little Free Library

My sweet Pawpaw built this little corner fence for me right after I moved into my house. The shelf in the middle is made from the lumber they used to build my house! I just love that. I am planning on putting my little free library in the corner. I added the shrubs last fall, but there needs to be some flowers and maybe some pine straw or mulch. The grass hasn’t been mowed yet either, so that alone will make a huge difference! 🙂

#4 Finish Front Porch Landscaping

Back in Spring/Summer of 2020, my mom and I tackled all my front porch landscaping. I sadly ran out of time when I was working on this last little corner and back to school hit. I’ve got everything I need for this section (see the extra stones piled up) so this should be an easy project to cross off the list!

#5 Front/Back Porch Decor

And the last thing on my outside to do list is the easiest-and most fun! I cannot wait to clean off the front and back porches and then decorate them. These two areas have their own to do list, but this is the part I look forward to the most. I love when the weather is nice enough to extend the square footage of your house and make the outside spaces livable!

This is what the back porch/deck area looks like currently. I’ve been waiting for the weather to warm up a little so I can get flowers and plants. I brought the deck furniture out a couple of weeks ago, but it’s still just a little too chilly. I’m hoping to start on flowers the beginning of next week.

I spend so much time out here in the spring and summer and I cannot wait to start on this area!

So those are my plans for the season. What are you going to tackle??

What I read this week 🩷📖 It took me all wee What I read this week 🩷📖

It took me all week to read The Favorites by Layne Fargo, which usually means I’m not loving a book, but I’m thrilled that’s not the case with this book! It was just a super busy week for me so I didn’t read as much every day as I wanted, but I absolutely LOVED this book! It releases January 14, so mark your calendars now! I don’t even love figure skating/ ice dancing (honestly I’ve never even heard of this) and I still was obsessed with this book. Highly highly recommend!

Synopsis:

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family’s support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating—and each other—to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the “real story” through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can’t stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she’s telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines
