Okay, teacher friends! It’s time for another Tech Tuesday post and this one is SO easy and simple. In fact, almost everyone may already know about this site, but it has really helped me with time management this year, so I thought I would share.
At the beginning of the year, I noticed it took my classes SO long to do simple tasks like getting out supplies for a certain activity or putting away one set of materials and switching to another set. Now don’t get me wrong, this has always been a classroom issue, but I feel like this was also in part due to the fact that not only did we have summer break like we always do, but we also added on all that virtual time from March to May. The kids hadn’t experienced a classroom setting in 5 months. Of course structure was going to be an issue we needed to work on!
I decided to use an online timer to help with transitions and getting ready for class. I always just used this timer from Google:
But then I decided to play around and search for online classroom timers. That’s when I discovered this site. Now I know, this is probably common knowledge to a lot of y’all (or everyone!) and I’ve probably even discovered this site in the past and possibly used it, but I’ve found it really beneficial for this year. I love that there are a ton of different options to pick from:
You can use the sound/music or you can mute it. Sometimes I like to use the music because it motivates the kids to pick up the pace and it’s just fun 🙂 BUT sometimes I think the music makes everything a little too wild and chaotic, so I like that there’s the feature to mute it directly from the timer.
I also love that they have other useful tools like a random name generator, group generators, number generators, and more!
Like I said, this week’s Tech Tuesday is super basic, but also very useful. Sometimes I feel like we are surrounded by SO MUCH technology (especially now!) that it’s nice to have something easy and simple, right 🙂
