Happy Friday, friends! I managed to read 79 books in 2020, but sadly I didn’t get to these five-which were some of my most anticipated. I am definitely prioritizing these for this year and hopefully I can get to them soon. I’d love to hear if you’ve already read any of these and which ones I should start with.
Lisa Jewell is one of my all time favorite authors and her newest release, Invisible Girl, sounds amazing. I even had an arc of this one and didn’t get to it. I loved her 2019 book, The Family Upstairs, but I wasn’t a fan of 2018’s Watching You and I think I’m honestly worried that this one won’t live up to the hype. Have y’all read it yet? What did you think?
I was SO excited for this historical romance. I ordered Mr. Malcolm’s List THE DAY it was released. I was even more excited to discover it was being made into a movie with Sam Heughan (you know, Jamie Fraser from Outlander!) I absolutely cannot believe I haven’t read this one. Especially after how much I fell in love with historical romance this past year. I will most definitely be reading this one SOON!
I am always struggling with nonfiction, but I really want to overcome this during 2021. Joe Biden’s book, Promise Me, Dad, was on my must read list for 2020, but I didn’t get around to it. I especially want to read it now that he was elected president. Plus, it’s short so it should be easy to get through-I say this because I know my struggles with NF! Even as I type it I feel ashamed because I ALWAYS tell my kids not to pay attention to how short or long a book is LOL
Shari LePena is one of my favorite mystery/thriller writers and I was so excited for this year’s newest read-The End of Her. Then I started hearing mixed reviews. I’ve also just been so consumed with romance stories this past year that I have neglected thrillers. I want to pick this one up soon though because I’m anxious to see how I feel about it. Her 2020 release, Someone We Know, was my favorite book she has written so far, so I think I am worried this one will be a let down. I’d love to hear if you’ve read it yet!
I have put off One by One by Ruth Ware for the same reason as the newest Shari LaPena. I LOVED The Turn of the Key last year. In fact, it is by far my favorite Ruth Ware book. I either really love RW books or realllly dislike them. I’m wondering where this one will fall for me. I haven’t heard the best reviews, but I’m hopeful!
Okay, so that’s 5 of the books I cannot believe I didn’t read last year. I’d love to hear what you are hoping to read in 2021!
