Friends, this week’s Friday Five is a good one! Sometimes there are books that everyone seems to absolutely love and rave about, but when you read them, you are left thinking “I don’t get it?” I always love to find out that someone else felt the same about a book when it’s an unpopular opinion. Today I’m sharing 5 really popular books that everyone seems to just LOVE, but I just didn’t. That’s not to say these aren’t great books! We all know some books are hits and some are misses for certain people. If you have loved any of these titles, I’m so glad! 🙂
In Five Years was a book that I had been SO excited for! I loved the idea of this storyline. A girl has a dream that takes place five years from present day and she’s married to a different man. When she meets the man from her dream 4 years later, she is shocked. She’s even more shocked to discover her best friend dating him. That sounds like the BEST story, right? I know most people love this one and love how the story comes together and ends, but I reallllllly didn’t like it. At all. The summary is very misleading. I went into it thinking it was a romance, but it was most certainly not.
No Exit is a thriller that SO many people love, but oh my goodness I was barely able to get through this one. This book made me discover I’m not a fan of a centralized, one location especially in mystery/thrillers.. I found this one to be super boring, far fetched and not at all interesting. So many people love this thriller though!
My romance loving heart is so sad this one didn’t work out for me. Y’all, I wanted to love Get a Life, Chloe Brown SO bad, but I just could not get into the male lead. I didn’t love the relationship, and I just couldn’t root for the storyline. I did purchase the second one in the series because I enjoyed the writing. I’m hoping with different characters I will be able to fall in love with it. I don’t know if I’ve heard a bad review for this one and after loving the writing, I totally get that it was just a fluke for me. I’m excited for book 2!
One word will sum up why I didn’t love this one: cheesy. Oh my goodness, y’all know how I am about cheesy storylines so this one really wasn’t the book for me. I have read Katherine Center’s other two books and I’ve enjoyed them somewhat, but I just can’t get past the cheesiness. I couldn’t even get past the first 75 pages of Things You Save in a Fire. *Insert ashamed monkey face emoji here LOL*
This last book is a puzzlement to me because it has everything I LOVE in a romance. Childhood best friends, small town, a time spent apart. I should LOVE this book like everyone else, but I just didn’t. I read this one probably 4 years ago and at the time, everyone was raving about this book. I was crushed that I didn’t love it more. I remember not loving the current relationship that the girl was in, but not buying into the new relationship with her childhood best friend either. I also remember that the boy had become a famous writer and the book that he had written was about their life and the girl was mad about it. I didn’t love that parts of the “book” were included in the actual book, even though I normally love that. I just don’t know. Sometimes that’s how it goes. You want to love it, but you just don’t!
Okay, now I would love to hear about some much loved books that you just didn’t love. 🙂

I didn’t love The Girl on the Train at all! So many people said it was such a great book and I struggled through it.
