Happy Monday y’all! I am so excited about this today because I only have one more Monday left until SUMMER! I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve said it before…I love my job, but nothing compares to being at home. I just love summer!
I’ve mentioned before on Instagram that I’ve been making a conscious effort to eat better, drink more water, and be more active everyday. I started this “new me journey” in early February and I’ve lost about 25lbs so far. We had a family issue come up in early April when my uncle passed away suddenly and that has slowed down my weight loss a bit because I’ve been spending so much time with my grandparents and I’ve had to adjust to the different afternoon schedule…but it’s all good!
Anyways, I had a few questions about what I had been doing/eating/changing and I thought I’d share some things with y’all! Today’s post is all about water because I think that has been the biggest change and the most helpful one.
Drinking enough water throughout the day can be difficult, especially when you’re a busy teacher! Here’s how I’ve changed my lifestyle to get in more H2O!
Morning
When I wake up in the mornings, I have to eat something immediately. I cannot function until I get something in my stomach and a little diet coke. I have tried and tried to give up diet coke, but I haven’t managed to succeed just yet. I have grown to limit myself each day, so I’ll take that as a step in the right direction!
After I wake up/eat, I look online or read for a little bit before jumping in the shower and begin getting ready for the day. Once I start putting on my makeup, I drink my first glass of water (about 32 oz)
I read that drinking ice water first thing in the morning jump starts your metabolism and I can tell it helps! I either finish it all during makeup or I continue it while I’m doing my hair.
After I’m ready, I gather my things to take to school and pack the car! If you’re a teacher, you understand what I mean, right? No matter how hard I try, I always feel like I’m bringing my entire house with me to work each day!
This is the most important part of getting in enough water and if I don’t do this, I fail to drink enough every single time. Now, I realize that you can get water out of the sink, but for me, water bottles are the way to go! I like the visual you get from bottles. I always pack a little bag and fill it with 5-6 bottles. That way, I can easily see how much I’ve drank throughout the day and how much I still need to drink.
Day
Once I’ve arrived at school, it’s time for another bottle! I have plan first thing (yep, after 8:40, I have no breaks the ENTIRE DAY!) I usually have a small snack and drink a bottle. I’ve really changed my mid morning snack since I’ve started my “new me”. Let me know if you want to hear more about those changes!
After the kids come back, I finish more water bottles as I teach. Sometimes I bring a cute tumbler and that helps spice up the water routine! I know a lot of people like the flavored water pouches. I like those, but I’d just prefer to drink straight water. For some reason, tumblers seem to work! My favorite right now is this fab one from Ashley Brooke Designs
I also carry another bottle or tumbler to lunch, but I don’t have a picture of that since I never bring my phone to lunch.
After that the afternoon is pretty busy. I usually don’t get in another bottle of water until snack time, which is the last thing on the 5th grade schedule. I usually fill up a tumbler and start drinking it at snack and finish it on the way home. That’s why I sometimes have a tumbler in my hand when I snap an outfit pic because I normally take those as soon as I get home.
Afternoon
Now, I’m sure my afternoon schedule is a lot different than most of y’alls because I’m a single girl with no kids! I pretty much have afternoons all to myself! I know it’s harder to get in water when you’re on the go, but for me, I drink my last two bottles or so while I’m working on creating teacher resources and then relaxing while I read.
I usually finish up all my water before supper because I don’t want to be up all night! 🙂
Drinking more water has made SUCH a difference! I feel better when I drink it and my skin appreciates it too! I can tell a noticeable difference in my skin when I’m drinking enough water. Even the girl at the eye doctor commented on my complexion. Water is a miracle worker!
I’d love to hear your tips on drinking more water throughout the day!
